About Us

Now, you can join Prevail Credit Union if you live or work in Washington!

Our Story

In 1940, Prevail Credit Union was formed to provide an alternative to traditional
banking services for King County government employees and their families. The original founders, King County government employees, believed that financial services could be offered at lower costs and would be easier to obtain by fellow employees. The credit union philosophy of "people helping people" was the guiding force behind this venture.

Prevail Credit Union has grown dramatically by over $200 million in assets and provides financial services and products to over 22,000 members. The membership base (King County government employees) has been broadened to include anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in the State of Washington.

Since 1940, Prevail has been helping families live a richer life, not only here in the greater Puget Sound area, but our members now live all over the world. Our full menu of internet banking capabilities, as well as products and services that may be used and accessed around the globe, make membership with Prevail a lifetime opportunity. Join us and be part of our growing story of "people helping people."

You can quote us on it!

Our Mission Statement:
To enhance the quality of our members' lives with outstanding service.

Our Vision Statement:
To be the preferred financial institution.

Our Philosophy statement is:
To provide the members of the Prevail Credit Union all products, services and benefits in a fiscally responsible manner.

Helping Hands

The primary purpose in establishing Prevail Credit Union was to create a "people helping people" environment. And since 1940, Prevail Credit Union members have joined together to save money and, in turn, lend this money to fellow members.
That same principal exists today. Our members continue investing in each other, as well as themselves, unlike any bank you've ever seen!
Member-owned and locally operated, our mission is to help our members save more effectively, get the loans they need, and nourish financial growth.

At Prevail Credit Union you also have an equal vote in shaping the future of the credit union. You and other members elect a volunteer board of directors to oversee the credit union. You have an important say in how we do business. Your opinion counts!
